Wondering what all the buzz is about?  Well read on and you’ll soon learn that Orbit Baby has just released their brand new double stroller that has been dropping jaws since we first blogged about it last year!  It is called the Helix Double Stroller.

The new Orbit Helix System is a luxury, convertible stroller that you can use as a single or double stroller depending on your lifestyle and growing family’s needs.  The Helix Double Stroller offers you 2 options to purchase, both providing you multiple seating options/configurations for many years to come.

1.     You can choose the full Orbit Double Helix Frame ($750) if you need a double stroller immediately and add any G2 seating options to fit your family’s needs at the time.  The Helix will accommodate the G2 Stroller Seat, The G2 Infant Car Seat, G2 Bassinet and also the G2 Toddler Car Sea.

• The Double Helix has endless configurations and will accommodate all of the G2 Seats in any combination including the Toddler Car Seat so whether you have twins, a newborn and a sibling or two children that still require a stroller, the Orbit Double Helix will work for you! The great thing about the Helix Double Stroller system is that you can purchase all of the seating options at once or only purchase what you need at the time.

2.     Another option Helix offers is the ability to only purchase the Orbit Helix Plus Upgrade Kit ($350).  Please note:  you will have to already have the G2 single frame.

• The upgrade kit includes the easy to install (snap on/off) frame with 2^nd Smart Hub.  This kit ultimately transforms your G2 Stroller into a double stroller! You can use your existing seats form your G2 purchase and then add on as your family grows  Now that’s what I call a good investment!

• The Helix Upgrade Kit also includes the upgraded storage basket (larger now to accommodate two children), the new single handlebar (with IPod/Ipad pocket and 2 cup holders) with Shadepad and wheel coverings  The Helix Storage basket can be used on your G2 Stroller frame to give you more storage space now that you’re toting around two babies!

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical on how this double stroller would maneuver because the Helix Double Stroller is a true tandem stroller (each car seat/seat are full sized) and sometimes tandems can feel really long and often are cumbersome to make turns. Well, there were no disappointments during my demo at all in fact, I was pleasantly surprise and really excited to offer the stroller in our store.   I like how the Helix double includes an additional set of wheels making a total of 6 which makes this stroller turn on a dime.  The Helix also has quad shocks that make this stroller push like a dream.

You’ll also be excited to know that the fold and storage with the Helix Double is almost just as compact as the G2 Series Frame (give or take a few inches) and all of the pieces are still designed to nest with each other in your trunk.

OK, let’s talk price.  It goes without saying that Orbit Baby is always dead on with producing a luxury stroller that is safe, ergonomically correct, and second to none in quality and that usually comes with a price tag.   One important factor to remember is that you only have to purchase the Helix Double Frame and then choose your seating options based on your individual needs at the time. For example, if you already own the G2 Frame with all the seats, you really only have to purchase the Helix Upgrade Kit at first or even at all!.

If you’re already familiar with the ever popular Baby Jogger City Select then it will be easy for you to compare the two side by side.  The City Versa is somewhat of a scaled down version of the Baby Jogger City Select that we all know and love and is a great option for parents who prefer a lighter more compact solution.  Although the frame is lighter and more compact, the Baby Jogger City Versa’s seat is actually a bit more roomy than the City Select and we just absolutely love it!  The roomy seat accommodates up to 50lbs and offers a great sunshade with the magnetic closing peek a boo window.

The new Bugaboo Cameleon 3 is suitable for a newborn baby or a toddler up to 37.5 lbs and is very versatile and  surprisingly light weight for such a full featured stroller.  The new Cameleon 3 is approximately 21 lbs so that helps on the back and is great for getting in and out of the car, travel, or that urban on-the-go lifestyle!

Ok, we are always asked, “So what is new?  Should I wait and buy the new 2012 Bugaboo?”  Well here you have it…   Bugaboo redesigned about 90% of the stroller!  The Cameleon 3 has some completely new features over the previous Cameleon, our favorite being the easy one-handed unfolding!  That was a big request.  The new Cameleon has a refreshed sleeker design with a couple of new colors.  We love the Petrol Blue!   Also new is a one hand release for the bassinet as well as easy releasing wheels.

Bugaboo upgraded the stroller chassis on the Cameleon 3 to give it a more solid feel.  The included bassinet folds fully flat after a couple of adjustments so you can store or transport the bassinet in the most compact manner possible.  The harness system was upgraded with padded, height adjustable shoulder buckles to help ensure a comfortable, safe and secure ride for your little one.

Running out of storage?  Bugaboo really maximized the underseat bag to a total capacity of 26.3 gal. Yes, they call it a “bag” because it can be closed keeping your items secure when you are carrying the chassis.  You can also adjust the handle on the Cameleon 3 making it suitable and more comfortable for those of different heights.

The Cameleon 3 like the previous version has a three position recline seat and can be faced either forward or backward depending on your preference. The folded size actually decreased and is now 35″ L x 20″ W x 12″ H!  The unfolded width is 24″.
