Additional Bumbleride 2009 Praise

We had a nice visit from the great folks at Bumbleride on Friday and were able to see the 2009 changes on the Indie live and in person!

I have to say we were all universally impressed!  We weighed the new 2009 Indie and they literally took 3 lbs off the stroller.  The 2009 Indie (and Indie Twin) isn’t coming with a bumper bar so admittedly, that is some of the weight, the most is because of the newer wheels and recline.  Having a 20 lb all-terrain stroller is really an awesome selling point.  Add that light weight to the spiffy new wheels, the always beautiful Bumbleride fabrics, the now MUCH easier recline, more compact fold and smoother canopy and we think the Bumbleride Indie is looking like a fabulous choice for 2009.

We also got to play with the new Bumbleride Carrycot and they are gorgeous.  They clip into all Bumbleride Indie, Indie Twin or Flyer models (they can even clip into the 2008 versions I believe).  They are nicely padded with the new Bumbleride Footmuffs (so you get that additional accessory included when you purchase the carrycot which is a great value), they have an apron for wind/sun protection and they look cute as can be in the stroller.  Plus by clipping them in, you don’t have to worry about going over bumps and having the carrycot fall out of the seat.

What about the Indie Twin?  Well it has the same improved recline, canopies, wheels and is also lighter for 2009 (although we couldn’t weigh it in person).  Plus the footrest is extended for 2009 to give more legroom for taller kids on the twin version – a nice upgrade!  The only downside to the new Indie Twin?  The price has definitely gone up (about $60) which can be a big stretch for many parents these days.  Still it’s one of the best priced all-terrain twin strollers and is still carseat and snack tray compatible.

We didn’t get to play with the 2009 Bumbleride Flyer which was a bummer but given the Indie changes, we are excited to see the newest Flyer version as well.  As you might have noticed above, the new Indie/Indie Twin/Flyer will not come with the footmuff/foot boot of previous years. Instead they have a plush lined full footmuff accessory that matches and is available as an accessory.

They are also releasing a matching diaper bag this year.  Am I in love?  Definitely not but Melissa thought it might be a good option to leave on the stroller for baby essentials and then get a new Storksak that you’ll really love to wear around everywhere!

That’s great that the Indie is 3lbs lighter! It always seemed a little too heavy in the stores. Can newborns use it without the carrycot or carseat adaptor? It doesn’t look like it reclines nearly flat like the MB Swift.

I love the new black colorway!

      Dear Erica,

Yes newborns can definitely use it without the carrycot or the carseat adaptor. The recline is actually even slightly flatter than the 2008 versions. The Swift is pretty flat too and nimble and might be slightly flatter than the Indie but the Indie is still completely suitable for newborns.

      I hope that helps!

      Best,
      Jo

thanks so much, jo! you’ve been such a help with these responses, but i still feel like i have too many options to choose from! it looks like this baby is going to arrive before we come to a decision about his stroller :)

    Can you use 2 carseats????

    • Jo&Melissa says:

      Dear Katie,

Unfortunately not but you can use one carseat and one carrycot. Right now there are no side by side doubles on the market that take 2 carseats. Please email us for more information or a stroller consultation!

      Best,
      Jo

I have a question about the carrycot. When using it with the Indie, can you put the carrycot in so that you are facing the baby, or does the baby face away from you? I can’t tell from the pics.
    Thanks,
    Cath

    • Jo&Melissa says:

You face the baby towards you but then you can’t have the apron on the carrycot since the carrycot only installs in one direction. Also you might have to put something under the mattress to prop the baby since you don’t want them to slide down the bassinet since the foot of the matteress is slighly elevated since the Indie doesn’t have flat newborn recline but has slightly elevated newborn recline.

      I hope that helps!

Can the 2009 or 2010 Bumbleride Carrycot be used with an Inglesina Zippy stroller?
