We’ve been getting several questions from blog readers and website shoppers about the Bugaboo Bee and the current Recall:
Here’s our list of Bugaboo Bee Recall FAQ’s
1) Was there a recall on the Bugaboo Bee?
Yes. Although a recall invokes pictures of harmful, dangerous products – several popular strollers and baby gear products have been involved in a recalls that involved small retrofits to existing products. In this case Bugaboo has a simple 2 part solution that attaches to the Bee wheels without tools and solves the issue.
2) What is the Bugaboo Bee Issue?
Some consumers were finding that the brakes on their Bugaboo Bee’s were not clicking in securely so that the stroller could potentially roll even when braked. This was due to sand/dirt/etc getting between the 2 brake mechanisms. Bugaboo has released brackets that act together with the current Bee brake mechanism to eliminate this issue.
3) How widespread is this issue?
This issue technically affects all Bees in existence sold until 2 weeks ago. However only 121 reports of brake failure have actually been reported which is less than 1% of all Bee’s sold in the US.
4) What should I do if I have an older Bee?
All existing Bee owners who filled in their warranty card have already been sent a Bee Bracket Kid. If you have not received one and your Bee was purchased through Let’s Go Strolling – you can contact us and we can help. Otherwise please contact Bugaboo directly and they will send you out the necessary kit.
5) Is it safe to buy a Bugaboo Bee now?
Definitely! Not only is it an even safer stroller but now through June 15 – we are offering a free Bugaboo Bee Baby Cocoon with every purchase of the Bugaboo Bee. This is a $100 free gift which is yours with every Bee purchase!
