Bumbleride News:
First up - Bumbleride’s newletter announced their new 2009 colors - like the fushia pink I loved, so I thought it was fair game to put up my picture now. Keep in mind the color is much nicer than this picture turned out.
They also published photos of their Lava Black color, which is, well, Black. The new colors are expected to ship in March 2009.
Bumbleride also put up photos of their new lightweight- the Flite. It weighs in at 12 lbs and looks to be a great lightweight stroller which will compete well with Maclaren, UPPABaby G-Luxe, and Inglesina Trip/Swift. It has an adorable look and a smooth push in prototype version. The real Flite is expected to land at retailers in Spring 2009. (Like the pun? It just came to me . . .really!)
A Customer’s Bumbleride Indie Twin Review:
Okay, we’re always thrilled to get customer testamonials for our website but they are usually short and brief. Well today we got not just a testamonial but a mini product review for the Bumbleride Indie Twin. I thought I would publish it here so that it could help others with their double stroller quest - just as the author intended it to do.
From Sunny F. in South Florida:
I’d like to add a review of the bumbleride indie twin stroller if possible. I did soooo much research on a double stroller that I’d like to help out the next person looking for one.
Here is my long review:
I took months to research the PERFECT double stroller since I had a 2 year old and a baby on the way. My requirements were that it would have large tires, was side-by-side and that it could accomodate my Peg infant seat.
Well, as it turned out, the Bumbleride Indie Twin actually does NOT accomodate a Peg car seat even though Bumbleride claims it does. Peg carseats are wonderul in that they are bigger/wider making them safer for your infant, however, it’s too wide for the Bumbleride double stroller and takes up the elbow space that your toddler would need. Additionally, the strap that comes with the stroller that is used to clip over the carseat to keep in place, is not long enough to fasten into itself!
I contacted Bumbleride and told them they are falsely promoting that it fits Peg carseats and explained the strap situation. They did in fact tell me I was right and they can send me a longer strap that would fit over the Peg carseats. However, it doesn’t take care of the problem with the seat taking up too much space and spilling over into the other seat.
But luckily, I came up with my own solution and emailed my local Moms Group and asked if anyone had a Graco (b/c their infant seats are smaller) carseat to sell…and that is what I use solely for the Bumbleride double stroller. I purchased a carseat cover so that the carseat matches the stroller. And I still use the Peg carseat in my car. If you also have the Peg carseat issue, you can find cheapie Gracos on craigslist.
On to the other stuff. I’ve had the double stroller for a month and a half now and use it about 5 times per week. It ROCKS! My main concern was it having big tires b/c I HATE getting stuck in the grass, etc. And it rides right over dirt, grass, mulch and bumpy asphalt. I’m using the stroller mainly to go out for long strolls to work off baby weight. I bought the snack pack bar for the toddler side since we’re out for hour-long trips and that works out really well because my daughter can have snacks, a drink and toys.
Other things I love are the windows in the canopy so you can see your little ones. Also, if you use an iPod, you can slide the iPod in the strap that holds the little window when it’s rolled up. I love that because I hate wearing my iPod on my arm since I can’t see what songs are playing, and when it’s strapped to the canopy, I can advance to the song I want easily. Also love that there are 4 pockets behind the seats to hold stuff and a large, structured basket underneath. Also love that the canopies unzip, so you can alter for sunshine purposes or if you want to get more airflow.
One small complaint is the bar in front of child (or snack pack bar in our case) is pretty close to the child. For their 2009 models, they should make the bar longer so it sticks out further from their body. But I love the stroller and nothing came close to the Bumbleride…and seriously, I did soooo much research!
Additionally, Let’s Go Strolling had wonderful customer service. When I had an issue with my 1st stroller being damaged when I received it, they were super understanding and sent UPS to pick up the damaged stroller and simultaneously shipped me out a new stroller. I highly recommend both the Bumbleride Indie Twin stroller as well as Let’s Go Strolling.”
Thank you Sunny! We’re glad we could help and we’re so glad you found a stroller you’ve loved and are willing to share your search with others.

Interesting review for bumbleride indie twin stroller ! I am mother of twin girls. I have Graco Duo Glider stroller now and I was happy with it because it can easily accomodate two car seats. Stroller is very good for small kids but unfortunately it is not so good for todlers. My girls is ~2 years old now and they do not like to sit behind each other. I am looking for side-to-side stroller now and though there are so many of them available I am still in a search for the perfect one. I collect a lot of info about twin strollers and you are welcome to visit my blog http://www.twinstroller.profitcruiser.com
I agree with everything regarding the above review (the Indie Twin is awesome!), except for one thing…the Peg Perego compatibility. I have a 2005 Peg SIP from my son, that I now use for my daughter. My son sits just fine next to the Peg carseat, and while it does “spill” a little bit, it’s not enough to say that there isn’t any elbow space. My son hasn’t complained once about being uncomfortable, in fact, he asks to take a ride with his baby sister!
If you don’t have the Peg situated correctly, the strap will not be long enough to fasten, however, with just a few adjustments, the strap is fine. I guess if Bumbleride is offering, you could get the longer strap from them. Maybe it’s not compatible with a newer Peg, but seems to work just fine for us! I’m wondering what the new canopies will be like for 2009 (isn’t it always the case that a newer, cooler feature comes out, right after you’ve bought the latest stroller, etc.?) as well as the new wheels (the current ones work for me!). I too, was on the hunt forever, for the “perfect” double stroller. While I don’t believe that there is one, yet, this one comes darn close.
Also wondering, will they come out with a rain cover accessory?
Nevermind, answered my own question, there is one!
Do you know if the 2009 model for the twin indie will add the latch for folding and fix the cup holder issue? When would we expect to be out if so?
Thanks!!!!
Does the Flite also have reversible handle?
Well, I hate to be the dissenting opinion, but I am very disappointed with my 2009 Indie Twin. The ride is smooth; the seats are great. It is very sturdy. Howver, the canopy is completely inadequate. If you are walking when the sun is low (morning and evening), the kids get it right in the eyes, especially an infant who is reclined to a 45 angle. You can remove the shade and flip it around, but it’s cumbersome and clumsy at best and then you still get sun coming in from the other direction. If you were only walking due east and then turning around and walking due west, I guess this might work. It really needs a ratcheting bubble type of canopy.
Dear Shelly,
I’m sorry that you are so disappointed with your Indie Twin. I do agree that the Bumbleride canopies are not the most complete on the market - the BOB and Baby Jogger are the best canopies in the double all-terrain market in my opinion. I would note though that on almost all strollers there is a tough gap when the sun in shining brightly and a kid is partially reclined. That is when they tend to get the full-on sun right over the edge of the canopy. I’m glad you enjoyed the smooth ride and the seats but I would definitely second your opinion that Bumberide is not the best double for people who want full sun coverage!
Thanks for pointing that out!
Best,
Jo
I’m leaning toward getting the Indie Twin, but I’m concerned about headroom for my toddler son. He is only 18 months but he is off the charts for height & it looked like there was not a lot of headroom left for him to grow when we tried the stroller out at a store. Yet I read glowing reviews from people with 3 year olds & even 4 year olds. Do 3 & 4 year old’s really fit in this stroller? I really want to buy it because I love everything else about it, but not if my son is going to grow out of it in 6 months.
Thanks!
