Most Innovative Stroller Update Goes to UPPABaby!
So we actually saw UPPABaby on the last day but they had one of the most exciting developments. They have created a toddler seat which they are calling the Rumble seat for their 2009 UPPABaby Vista Line.
The excellent thing about this Rumble seat is that unlike other toddler seat strollers, it can be used with an infant carseat as well as with both kids facing you. It even works with their accompanying PiggyBack board on the Vista to make it a 3 sibling solution!Unfortunately although they are working on a retrofit solution it will not work with earlier model years at this time.

This is a fabulous and thoughtful development from a company that really understands and is trying to meet the needs of American parents (although this is a solution many Europeans will want to import I am sure!).
That is not all the upgrades for their popular Vista line though. They have deep-sixed the two tone seats and their stroller are all now one color. They have removed the Alex (orange) and Makenna (Purple) from their line and replaced it with a gorgeous Silver tone. Their new colors are the popular Green, Black, Red, a new Blue tone and the Silver.

Additionally they have changed their bassinet to be entirely organic and this is standard on all strollers! I think that is so thoughtful on their part to have the product that envolopes your new baby made from 50% soy fiber and 50% cotton organic products.
The new UPPABaby Vista will also have bit more padding in their seats, a fabulous extendable sunshade built into the canopy and UPPABaby branding on it (so you know who to thank) and will retail at $669. They are expecting the strollers to ship in October.
The next UPPABaby delight is their new reclining umbrella stroller called the G-Luxe. It has a fairly deep (3+ month) recline, a great price point ($159), the same easy fold that stands folded, and weighs only 11lbs!
This is a great alternative for those that want true lightweight convenience but don’t want to sacrifice recline. It will be in somewhat similar colors to the current G-Lite line but the G-Luxe green will be more of an Apple Green and the blue is a Navy, the Red and Black are unchanged. The G-Lite will stay the same but come standard with a cupholder and increase in price slightly.
On to Mountain Buggy:
Besides having a great dealer incentive program (buy lots from us so we can go to New Zealand folks!), the folks from Mountain Buggy are releasing an innovative new urban delight.
Building on the popularity of the Breeze’s smaller, lighter frame, Mountain Buggy is releasing the Swift. The Mountain Buggy Swift is a smaller, lighter, narrower version of the Urban Single with a similar swivel wheel. The stroller is about 2-3 lbs lighter than the Urban Single, it has full newborn recline, a great basket, and 10″ wheels. It will come in three get colors, Black/Lime Green, Black/Red, and Black/Charcoal. It is not, however, carseat compatible.

The nice folks at Mountain Buggy were nice enough to lend us an Swift to try out for a day with my daughter at the show. It pushed beautifully and manuevered in true Mountain Buggy style. We were sad to give it back!
The 10″ wheels are perfect for those that want a smooth urban ride but don’t need to larger wheels for off-road performance. We predict this will be a
huge hit for Mountain Buggy - especially in tighter urban areas (can you say NYC) where carseats are not as important. The Swift is set to hit the US soil in December so watch out for it!
We don’t want to forget the Urban Line where Mountain Buggy is bringing out 2 new limited edition patterned strollers. A charcoal more subtle pattern and a black with green leaves. Unlike earlier patterns which just had a pattern on the canopy, the whole stroller has a patterned material. We loved the black with leaves especially! I might be wrong but I remember they only came in the single version. And Mountain Buggy just told us if there is enough demand they will release a matching carrycot.
Storksak goes fun for Spring
Okay I’m exhausted so before I go to bed - a quick Storksak update. I don’t have photos yet but Storksak is coming out this Spring with patterned bags in the Emily and Elizabeth that are gorgeous. There is a brown ‘Rococo’ pattern as well as Green and a Navy flowers/leaves pattern. Additionally the Elizabeth will come in a mint Green color that I am in love with.
The Claire Sak will also be coming out in solid colors with patent trim as well as the current favorites. Lastly there are two new bags slated for this Spring.
Storksak is debuting the Jess which is a canvas shoulder/messenger bag similar in shape to the popular Emily but with buckles instead of zippers on the outside pockets. It is a very low maintenance and understated bag. On the other side they have the Suzi Kasbah print which is a totally fun patterned shoulder bag. The Suzi is more square with an easily wipeable fabric.
PS On Quinny Write-Up From Yesterday
A big thank you to Quinny/Dorel who read our review yesterday and offered a few clarifications/correctsion.
The Zapp’s other improvements are that the weight limit is not 50lbs and not 40lbs. In addition the storage basket now stays on the stroller when the seat is removed to accommodate the Maxi Cosi Mico infant carseat.
The accents on the Buzz are an eggplant color, not Black as I had thought.
Lastly the Loola will be sold under the Maxi Cosi and not Quinny Brand.
I also remembered that the Buzz will not come with two seats fabrics, a more padded (think current tempurpedic foam) seat for younger children and a stiffer, more durable and deeper seat designed for the size and wear and tear of toddlers. The Buzz will increase to $629 for the Buzz 4 and $579 for the Buzz 3.

Has the frame or weight changed at all? Worried it is even heavier now. Leaning towards purchasing the 2009. I know the realease is Oct, any idea when?
Can the new rumble seat be attached so that both seats face forward as well on the Uppababy?
Kim,
We weighted the new 2009 UPPABabys and they are not at all heavier. Although they added more padding, they removed a cross bar to allow for the rumble seat so the net result is that it is the same weight!
ANY UPDATES ON THE PEG PEREGO SKATE? I HEARD THEY WERE MAKING SOME CHANGES
Hello. My name is Amber and I’m a strollerholic! I’m loving this Uppababy! I WANT it! I have three little ones (4 and under) and this just seems perfect. I was planning on getting the vista w/ the piggyback anyhow! I’m ditching my phil and teds! Will the rumble seat fit the current 2008 model as well? Or will I have to wait for the 09? ANd more importantly, have I missed the give away? Your site is awesome. Thanks!
Amber,
Thanks for the compliments! The UPPABaby is awesome. Right now the rumble seat when it is released (spring 2009) will only fit the 2009 version. They are working on a retrofit but as of now the only guarantee is a 2009. It is likely that they will come out with some upgrade or retrofit option but for the money you will spend on that, I think it is better to wait for the 2009.
I hope that helps!
-From LGS
Can you tell us whether the 2009 Vista will have a more-upright position than the 2008 models? The lack of such a position seems to be one of the most-mentioned criticisms for this otherwise great stroller.
Thanks!
do you know if the rumble seat will recline (like the phil and teds doubles kits)?
Me again…so now I’m thinking the Valco Rad? Which do you like best, Rad or Vista? (This will be my 8th or 9th stroller)!
Clemens,
The new Vista will have the same positions as the 2008! No changes on that front. Sorry!
Amber,
The Rumble seat will not recline ala Phil and Teds. The Vista is lighter than the RAD by about 4 lbs but the RAD is narrower so it depends on which is a better feature for you. The RAD is also on sale now so that is a plus!
Hope that helps!

Your review of the Vista is so helpful.
-Do you happen to know whether the rumble seat can be used when the bassinet is attached?
-Exactly how far is the recline on the main seat? I think I’ve read that it’s not completely flat. Can it still be reclined to all three positions with the Rumble Seat attached?
-Are the standard “urban wheels” appropriate for walking over grass or gravel, or would it be necessary to purchase the “all terrain” wheels?
-Have you tried the stroller with the buggy board attached, and is it difficult to avoid kicking it?
Thank you!
more questions about the vista…
like megan, i was wondering about the piggyback and the likely hood of it being kicked. i’m almost 6 ft. i also have a safari seat to go and was wondering if it would fit. lastly, do you know if the leg rest is adjustable?
thanks again. love your site!
oh,one more thing…i’ve read a lot of reviews where people are disapointed with the wheel width. how wide are they? do youthink it’s a problem?
Dear Amber and Megan,
I’m not sure about the Rumble seat and the bassinet but I suspect not. I will find out though.
The seat should be able to recline to all three positions although full recline is not flat that is correct. It is pretty young baby compatible though so I would feel find putting a 6 weeks + baby in the seat fully reclined.
I think the PiggyBack board is pretty good as far as kicking it but ALL boards are a problem. Especially for tall women and men with long strides. A board is a great thing for occasional riders but they can be diffiult to push for an everyday solution if you do lots of walking. They are always more awkward to push around.
As far as the wheel width. Even with the narrow wheels the Vista is not as narrow as the Bugaboo. It is narrower now though and still a super popular stroller. The Valco and Mountain Buggy single strollers are wider than the Vista and just as popular if not more so clearly people deal with wider strollers but yes, the Vista is one of the wider ones.
Best,
The LGS Team
[...] Right now we have all colors of the 2009 Vista Strollers, G-Luxe strollers and G-Lite strollers (now with cupholder). For those of your who haven’t read our review of the 2009s - check it out here: [...]

Hi,
Just wondering if there are any new features to the 2009 Mountain Buggy Double Urban elite Stroller. Such as individual canopys…
Thanks,
Can you jog with this stroller? I have not seen any reviews in regards to it being a jogger stroller, however, a local retailer said you could job/walk up to 5 miles a day. Looking for a replacement for the Bob, snap n go, and traditional stroller.
I have searched everywhere for how many pounds the UppaBaby Vista Rumble seat holds. Is it like the phil and Teds Double kit at 33 pounds or is is more? I love my phil and Teds but my 30 pound toddler can fit fine but if the older child gets out it tips over. Does the rumble seat do this on the Uppa?
Dear Kim,
We just got the final word from UPPABaby and it will be 35 lbs weight limit. Slightly more than P&T but not much. It does seem pretty roomy to us though!
Best,
Jo
Hello,
I had to sell my Vibe due to the weight limit on the back seat. I never thought I would have a baby so large (not 1 yet and the size of a 2 year old!). So, my next thought now is, I think I need a great single stroller that has the kickboard option so that my daughter, who is 3, has the option to hop on when she gets tired, and my son, who is LARGE, has something to grow with and be comfy. She likes to walk (we live in a city) but gets cranky after a long time. Is the MB Swift a great stroller? I like how it is small, but can handle the city streets, etc. Can it handle a kickboard, like the Lascal?
Thanks!
Dear Jen,
Yes I believe the Lascal Buggy Board would work well with the Swift. You can also check out the Bumblerdie Indie which take the Lascal as well and is also quite lightweight and on the narrow side for an all-terrain plus it has a taller under canopy height.
Please let me know if I can answer any other questions.
