Well the first day at ABC was a blur already. Have we seen everything yet? Not even close! We’ve seen some great products though and it’s been fun to catch up with some old friends.
So we thought since there were several questions that people wanted to find out about Baby Jogger we would lead off with that.
Big Baby Jogger News:

Baby Jogger is finally coming up with a carseat adaptor for their double strollers – Hallelujah! We couldn’t be happier about this. They have come up with a patented design that allows a carseat on one side and then to avoid tippiness when a toddler gets out, you can easily slide the carseat to the middle. And it works on the City Mini double too! Yes you read that right, on the City Mini Double! On the doubles front they are also releasing an accessory that has two snack trays to attach to the double bumper bar.
On the Elite and City Classic, no they are not changing the canopy on the Classic – that is still one main differentiation between the products but they are lightening the weight on both strollers. We weighed the prototype of the City Elite (which is heavier than the actual one will be) and it was lighter than than the current 2008 City Elite so we are psyched. They have changed the front wheel fork and added better suspension and a lighter fork and wheels to lighten up the stroller a couple of pounds! The colors have changed as well with a Chocolate/Tan, Red/Black, and Black in the Classic and a Stone, Red/Tan, Black/Black, Black/Cream (stunning) and Blue/Black in the Elite.

They have also thrown out the ATS and come out with a running stroller that is worthy of the Baby Jogger name. It has their patented one-step fast-fold, is easy to recline (though not newborn recline), the same canopy as the classic, and an angled fixed handlebar that allows joggers of different heights to push it comfortably. Whether it competes on push with the BOB revolution remains to be seen! The Summit 360 will even come in a triple version (ala Mountain Buggy Urban Triple) with swivel/fixed wheels but the recline will still not be deep enough for newborns.

The City Mini remains the same popular stroller. Why change a great thing? They have just added the popular Stone color that is similar to their current Tan Elite color. They have also added a storage bag for those that wish the City Mini had more storage.
On a less positive note: The Baby Jogger City Series Jump Seat and canopy will be out very soon but the weight limit is a disapointing 30 lbs. This means many older siblings will need to be in the main seat while their little brother or sister is in the jump seat but there is almost no legroom or breathing space for an older sibling in the main seat. Bottom line in our book - if you want the jump seat - go with a Valco (or a Phil and Ted’s or an UPPABaby (more to follow!))
We’ve added a lot of photos to this entry believing a photo really is worth 1,000 words!

Do you know when the new baby Joggers are coming out?
Kim, the new colors are due in November. The new products like the Summit 360 and double carseat adaptor/snack trays are not due out until the beginning of 2009. I hope that helsp!
The elite single’s seat looks a lot wider than the classic’s, is it really?
Thanks
Dear Heather,
No that Elite seat is actually a little (1/2″) smaller due to the extra padding on the seat. I think my photos are a bit misleading!
I hope that helps!
Hi there…did you get a seatback length on the Summit? Wondering if it has the huge seat like the City Series. Any other new huge seat strollers we with preschoolers should know about?
Beth,
I didn’t get a seatback length on the Summit but the seat looked very comparable to the City Series. It will probably be more like the Classic than elite version because the canopy is not rounded like the Elite. Hope that helps!
This info is great! I have been trying to get any info on new Baby Jogger products, as my baby is due the end of November - and I’m trying to decide if we should hold out for any new 2009 products to become available. (We had previously decided on the 2008 City Elite.) So, a few questions:
-Are you saying that the new City Elite will be available in November but the Summit not until January?
-Will the car seat adapter change for the 2009 City Elite? Also, will the same car seats be compatible, or will there be changes to that list?
-Is there a car seat adapter available for the new Summit 360? There wasn’t one available for the ATS. Is this stroller designed for jogging and all-terrain walking (like the ATS was, and like the BOB Revolution)?
Thanks so much for your help!
really happy with this info, thanks for making my legwork just a bit easier. also want to know approx date in Nov for the new Elite release? Im a Dec due date and really want to get these products onto my registry. but wont until the new ones come out. also does that mean there will be lots new attachments for the elite? or mostly the same that they already offer. I love anything with extra storage (that doesn’t involve as separate bag…. meaning pockets, holders, etc)
thnx!
Dear Shannon,
New City Elite is supposed to be out in November. The Summit 360 will not be out until Jan.
The carseat adaptor for the City Elite single will not change at all - nor will it include any more carseats to the best of my knowledge.
The same carseat for the City Elite will work with the new Summit 360. Yes the Summit 360 is designed for running and walking similar to the ATS and the BOB Revolution.
Lori,
The attachments for the City Elite 2008 and 2009 will be pretty much identical. They are bringing back the hard sided bassinet similar to the 2007 version but it will work on the 2009 or 2008 version.
They are also bring out an accessory bag for extra storage that is like a pannier bag but the City Elite won’t have more pockets in 2009 than in 2008.
I hope that helps!
Best,
LGS
Will the price of the City Mini Double 2008 be reducecd once the 2009 comes out?
Lori,
Is the new 2009 City Elite Double coming out in November? Also will it have an option to attach the snack tray?
Thanks,
Joanna
Yes also inquiring if the City Elite 2009 is definitely coming out in november. I heard from another source it wasn’t due til the spring. so am confused. thanks!
Dear Louise,
The price of the City Mini Double won’t go down unfortunately since they are only adding a color and not changing any of the design or other colors. Baby Jogger is even contemplating a price increase so don’t wait to buy!
Best,
the LGS Team
Joanna and Lori,
The only date we have heard for the City Elite Double is November but dates are often pushed back. We’re hoping not too far though! The City Series Doubles will get a new double snack tray accessory but that won’t be out until the new year (2009).
I hope that helps!
Best,
The LGS team
anybody have the new City Elite Sport 2009 yet? Anybody ever try the baby bling?
